TLU's Cullen Motsinger named SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Cullen Motsinger, a senior outfielder from Houston, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Sunday, April 26 through Sunday, May 2.

Motsinger hit .353 for the week as the Bulldogs went 3-1 with a road win at No. 1 Trinity and a series victory (two wins out of three games) at No. 20 Centenary.

Motsinger had a hit, a run scored, and a stolen base in the win at Trinity.

In the series against Centenary, Motsinger hit .357 with four runs scored, two doubles, four RBI, two walks and a steal. He had an on-base percentage of .450 and a slugging percentage of .471 for the week.

Motsinger is the fourth consecutive, and fourth different, Bulldog to receive SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week honors. The Bulldogs have been awarded six of the 11 Baseball Hitter of the Week honors this year.

TLU takes an overall record of 25-11 into this week's SCAC Baseball Championship in Cleburne, Texas. TLU went 15-3 in the SCAC regular-season and finished as the regular-season runner-up.

The Bulldogs face No. 3 seed Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. Friday at The Depot at Cleburne Station.

TLU received votes in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25. If the poll extended past No. 25, TLU would be 30th in the poll.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year utility Michael Anderson of Dallas batted .500 over two games, and had the winning RBI on a sacrifice fly out in the 10th inning, as the Crusaders swept Austin College on Saturday. Anderson went 3-for-4 in game one at Sherman and picked up two stolen bases, which contributed to a team total of 11 on the day. He also scored a run in both victories.
