Texas Lutheran drops opening game of Centenary series 5-4
- SHREVEPORT, La. -- Texas Lutheran dropped a 5-4 conference road game to Centenary (La.) on Friday night at Shehee Stadium.
TLU fell to 23-11 overall and to 13-3 in the SCAC.
Centenary improved to 30-7 overall and to 14-5 in the conference.
The Gents extended a 2-1 lead with three runs in the fourth inning.
TLU cut the lead to 5-4 with a three-run seventh. Randy Huerta started the rally with a triple to right-center.
Nick Gardoni singled home Huerta, and Gardoni later scored on a ground ball RBI from Cullen Motsinger. The Bulldogs' third run of the inning came home on a Centenary error.
Parker Primeaux tossed the final 2-1/3 innings for Centenary and did not allow a Bulldog base-runner. He struck out five to claim his 10th save of the year.
Preston Ludwig went 6-2/3 innings to move his pitching record to 8-1. He struck out six and allowed two earned runs.
TLU and Centenary close out their three-game conference series with a noon doubleheader Saturday at Shehee Stadium.
