TLU's Tyler Post named SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran sophomore first baseman Tyler Post (San Antonio/Johnson) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played from Sunday, April 12 through Sunday, April 18.
 
Post led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 week, including a 2-1 series victory over Southwestern over the weekend.
 
For the week, Post hit .533 with seven RBI, two home runs, two walks and one double.
 
In the 13-7 victory over Southwestern, Post hit two home runs, went 4-for-4, scored three runs, and drove in four.
 
In the three conference games, he hit .600 and had a slugging percentage of 1.300. 
 
The Bulldogs are a half-game out of first place in the SCAC Baseball Standings. TLU is 19-9 overall and 10-2 in the SCAC. Trinity is 22-3 and 10-1 in the SCAC.
 
TLU and Trinity meet Tuesday night at TLU's Katt-Isbel Field in a non-conference contest. That game begins at 6 p.m. TLU will have live video and live stats on tlubulldogs.com.
 
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:

First-year outfielder Maxwell Mims of Southwestern drove the Pirates' offense through a 3-2 week, hitting 9-for-17 (.529) with a 1.235 slugging percentage. Mims showcased his power (three home runs) and speed (one triple, two stolen bases). He finished the week with 13 RBIs and six runs scored. He was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in the Pirates' win over TLU. Senior outfielder Rafe Chaumette of Trinity led the second-ranked Tiger baseball team to a 3-1 overall record last week, including a pair of SCAC road wins over Dallas. Chaumette went 8-for-17 (.471) in the four games, scoring six runs and posting an on-base percentage of .550 from his leadoff spot in the order. He also had three doubles and two triples among his eight hits, giving him an impressive .882 slugging percentage for the week. Junior center fielder Gary Hewitt of Centenary helped lead the Maroon and White to a three-game home sweep over St. Thomas. Hewitt was a scorching .545 (6-11) at the plate with two RBI, six runs scored, a walk, and two extra-base hits. Hewitt also stole five bases during the weekend.
