Texas Lutheran collects series win over University of Dallas with 9-1 victory Sunday

IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran received three-run home runs from Tyler Cauley and Randy Huerta in a 9-1 conference victory Sunday over the University of Dallas.
 
At UD Baseball Field, TLU won the final game of the three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series and took the series two games to one.
 
TLU's overall record stands at 16-8 overall and at 8-1 in the SCAC. TLU and Trinity are tied atop the SCAC Baseball standings. Dallas fell to 6-15 overall and to 4-8 in the SCAC.
 
Dallas won the first game Saturday 6-5 in 11 innings, but TLU won the next two games of the series by a combined score of 31-3. The Bulldogs won the late game Saturday 22-2 in seven innings.
 
In Sunday's 9-1 victory, Cauley put TLU up 3-0 in the first with a three-run shot, his seventh of the season and the 35th of his career. Cauley is second all-time at TLU for career home runs.

Huerta hit a three-run home run in the third. For Huerta, the home run was his second of the season.
 
Simon Scales drove in three runs as well. Scales delivered a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a two-run single in the seventh.
 
Sophomore right-hander JT Taylor tossed five innings and allowed just one run to move his pitching record to 1-0. Taylor struck out six and walked three.
 
Matthew Hickey tossed two scoreless innings, and Zach Perry and Blade Strzelczyk also hurled shutout innings.
 
TLU returns to Katt-Isbel Field for Tuesday night's home game against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
 
No visiting team fans are allowed at the game. TLU fans must be on the player pass list to be admitted to the stadium. Each TLU player can have four family members or friends on the pass list.
