Texas Lutheran wins fourth straight with 8-2 road win over Concordia Texas

AUSTIN -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs won their fourth straight with an 8-2 non-conference victory Tuesday over Concordia Texas.
 
The Bulldogs improved to 14-7 overall. Concordia dropped to 9-6.
 
Bulldog senior outfielder Tyler Cauley moved into second place on the TLU Baseball all-time home run list with his 34th career homer.
 
Cauley hit a solo home run in the second inning. The homer moved Cauley past TLU Hall of Famer Aaron Crais on the TLU home run list. Aaron Merhoff is the TLU career leader with 51.

Cauley went 3-for-4 against the Tornados, and he scored two runs.
 
Holden Philippus also had three hits and added a run scored and two RBI.
 
Caleb Maly walked three times and had a hit, and Cullen Motsinger had a hit and two walks and a run scored.
 
Joe Jimenez drove in two runs and had a hit and a run scored.
 
Ten different TLU pitchers combined to hold Concordia to four hits. The Bulldogs struck out 12 batters and worked around nine walks.
 
Matthew Hickey (3-0) notched the pitching win with an inning of work. He struck out a batter and did not issue a walk or surrender a hit.
 
TLU heads to Irving, Texas for this weekend's Saturday-Sunday three-game series with the University of Dallas. The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series begins Saturday with a noon doubleheader. The series concludes Sunday with a single game that starts at 1 p.m.
