Tyler Cauley advances to Academic All-America ballot for second consecutive year

SEGUIN, Texas -- For the second consecutive year, Texas Lutheran Baseball slugger Tyler Cauley (Baytown/Barbers Hill) has advanced to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® national ballot for NCAA Division III.

Cauley, a 2018 playing All-American and 2019 Academic All-District selection, made the 2020 Academic All-District® First Team for District 8, which is made up of student-athletes from college and universities from 21 states and Canada.

Cauley, an accounting major, is in the five-year program to obtain concurrently his bachelor's degree and his master's degree in accountancy. Cauley holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.59.

A four-year starter for the Bulldogs, Cauley is in the top-five all-time at TLU for home runs (28), RBI (151) and slugging percentage (.654).

Cauley is a career .346 hitter with 39 doubles, 13 triples, 168 hits, and 25 stolen bases.

As the starting right-fielder, Cauley helped lead TLU to the 2018 NCAA Division III Baseball World Series in Appleton, Wis. The Bulldogs finished as the national runner-up.

With Cauley on the team, the Bulldogs have won an NCAA DIII Regional Championship, a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and an SCAC Regular-Season Championship. The Bulldogs played in the NCAA DIII post-season in 2018 and 2019. The Bulldogs hosted a 2019 regional tournament.

Cauley and the Bulldogs have a combined record of 103-49 (.678) overall and 39-15 (.722) in the SCAC over the past three-plus seasons.

With the 2020 season coming to a premature end due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CoSIDA Academic All-District® nominations listed career statistics instead of the current year's statistics.

The 2020 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Honorees selected First Team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 8-11.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
