Texas Lutheran Competes in NCATA Division-III Event Finals; Three Bulldogs Earn All-Tournament Honors

MEQUON, WI -- To conclude their second season of competition, Texas Lutheran Acrobatics and Tumbling competed in six events in the event finals on the final day of the 2024 NCATA Division-III Tournament hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin. Over the course of the six events the Bulldogs qualified for they would face Mary Hardin-Baylor - who repeated as NCATA Division-III Tournament Champions earlier Saturday afternoon, Trine University, East Texas Baptist, and host Concordia University Wisconsin. Mary Hardin-Baylor would win all but one event, the salto toss, on the night.

Texas Lutheran would compete in the six-element in the acro event and the inversion pyramid in the pyramid event - both would be won by the Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Next, the Bulldogs would compete in the 450 salto toss which the Crusaders would win with a 9.425 score.

The duo of Gracen Bunch (Georgetown/Georgetown) and Phoenix Cosley (Round Rock/Hendrickson) would return to the event finals to compete in the duo pass for the second straight year. UMHB would outlast the duo in addition to competitors from ETBU.

Mackenzie Holland (Colleyville/Grapevine), Nadia Roberts (Manvel/Manvel), and Genna Crafts (Elgin/Elgin) represented TLU in the trio pass, which the Crusaders would win with a score of 8.60.

Phoenix Cosley would end the night for the Bulldogs, competing in the open pass event that would also be won by the highly touted Crusaders with a score of 9.50.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, three Bulldogs earned All-Tournament honors. Mackenzie Holland earned All-Tournament First Team honors while Cosley and Bunch would earn All-Tournament Second Team honors. The honors are the first in all three of their careers.

Texas Lutheran concludes its second season with a 2-7 record and a second straight NCATA appearance under head coach Cam Bryant.
