Bulldogs Set New Program-Highs in Loss to No. 5 UMHB in NCATA Semifinals

MEQUON, WI -- The Texas Lutheran Acrobatics and Tumbling team continued competition in the 2024 NCATA Division-III Tournament with a loss in the semifinals to No. 5 Mary Hardin-Baylor on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin. The Bulldogs would drop the meet to the Crusaders with the Bulldogs (2-7) earning a total score of 241.715, a new program-high, and the Crusaders (8-1) earning a total score of 266.330.

Texas Lutheran would score a 33.75 in the compulsory, including an 8.43 in acro, 9.40 in pyramid, 9.28 in toss, and 6.65 in tumbling out of the highest possible value of 10. UMHB outscored the Bulldogs in the compulsory, earning a 37.48 total score.

After the acro event, TLU continued to trail the Crusaders with Texas Lutheran earning a total score of 25.13 consisting of a 9.28 in the fifth element, 7.65 in the sixth element, and 8.20 in the seventh element. The 25.13 score is a new program-high as the Bulldogs raised the program-high across every meet this season.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor would narrowly out score the Bulldogs in the pyramid event, 29.18 to 27.38, with the 27.38 also setting a new program record.

Leading into the half, TLU trailed UMHB 95.68 - 86.25. 
 
The Crusaders narrowly took the toss event, with event scores being 27.60 - 26.43. Texas Lutheran earned a 8.58 in salto, 8.78 in synchronized, and 9.08 in open while setting yet another program record in the process.

UMHB began to pull away after taking the tumbling event, outscoring TLU 53.725 to 46.550. The tumbling event was highlighted by an 8.65 score from Mackenzie Holland (Colleyville/Grapevine) in the aerial pass and an 8.625 score from Gracen Bunch (Georgetown/Georgetown) in the 6-Element pass.

Texas Lutheran would conclude the meet with a score of 46.55 in the team event.

This concludes the Bulldogs season as a team, but Texas Lutheran will continue their season with the 2024 NCATA Division-III Tournament Event Finals, tomorrow, April 13, at 7 PM. All streaming links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
