TLU A&T Set New Program High in Loss to No. 11 UMHB
SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Acrobatics and Tumbling began the first of three consecutive home meets on Saturday with a matchup against the defending Division-III NCATA National Champion, 11th-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor at Memorial Gymnasium. The Bulldogs would drop the meet to the Crusaders with the Bulldogs (0-3) earning a total score of 201.770, a new program-high, and the Crusaders (2-1) earning a total score of 258.795.
Texas Lutheran would score a new program-high 29.4 in the compulsory, including a 7.35 in acro, 9.6 in pyramid, 8.45 in toss, and 4.0 in tumbling out of the highest possible value of 10. UMHB outscored the Bulldogs in the compulsory, earning a 36.85 total score.
After the acro event, TLU continued to trail the Crusaders with Texas Lutheran earning a total score of 22.05 consisting of a 7.95 in the fifth element, 7.70 in the sixth element, and 6.40 in the seventh element. The 22.05 score is a new program-high.
Mary Hardin-Baylor would narrowly out score the Bulldogs in the pyramid event, 27.25 to 24.65.
Leading into the half, TLU trailed UMHB 91.80 - 76.10.
The Crusaders took the toss event, with event scores being 26.40 - 22.70. Texas Lutheran earned a 7.05 in salto, 7.35 in synchronized, and 8.30 in open.
UMHB also took the tumbling event, outscoring TLU 50.525 to 41.900. The tumbling event was highlighted by an 8.925 score from Phoenix Cosley (Round Rock/Hendrickson) in the open pass.
Texas Lutheran continues to improve in the team event - setting a new program-high of 61.070 in the event on Saturday.
