William 'Billy' Nelson

Bio

“Billy” Nelson was a two-sport, four-year letter winner for Texas Lutheran in track and football.  He led the track team to three Big State Conference championships in 1963, 1964, and 1966.  In the 1965 season, Nelson won five first-place medals at the conference meet in the 100, 220, 440, and long jump, and also anchored the winning mile relay team.  He was the conference top point getter four times and was the top Bulldog track athlete for four years.  In football, Billy scored a touchdown in each of the four homecoming games he played.  In his junior season, he tallied 40 points, and as a senior, he scored six touchdowns, returned seven kickoffs for a 24.6 yard average, recovered five fumbles, and scored two two-point conversions.  Nelson came to TLC from Hutchinson, MN.
