Larry West earned All-American honors in 1969 and 1970 as the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs.  When West graduated from TLC, he was the holder of school records for passes attempted in a game (35), passes attempted in a season (234), passes completed in a game (21), passes competed in a season (110), touchdown passes in a season (16), longest pass play (89-yard pass to Alan Wells), and longest play from scrimmage (the same 89-yard pass to Wells).  A transfer student to TLC after his sophomore season, West finished his Bulldog career with 2.495 yards passing and 26 career TD tosses.  West and the Bulldogs tied Southwest Texas State (now Texas State) 24-24 in 1969 and posted a winning record of 5-4-1 in 1970, the first winning season in six years for the Bulldogs.
