Bio

Dr. Yandell developed the Texas Lutheran women’s athletics program by introducing the sports of volleyball, basketball, track and field, softball, and tennis as a resurrected or new athletic varsity teams.  She came to Texas Lutheran in 1962 as an instructor in the Department of Physical Education and served as a coach from 1971-1985.  She was a Kinesiology Department Chairperson twice.  From 1988 through 1999, Dr. Yandell took on the added duties of athletics director and in 1996-97 was named the National Female Athletics Administrator of the Year.  She is the only female AD in TLU’s history, and was inducted to the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2000.
