Bio

Denise Sylvester Brumley was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Bulldog volleyball team and a two-year letter winner for the women’s basketball squad.  In volleyball, Brumley played on four consecutive Big State Conference Championship teams and led the Bulldogs to two NAIA National Volleyball Tournaments.  During Brumley’s time with the volleyball team, the Bulldogs won 138 matches and lost just 43 (a .723 winning percentage).  In the 1984 season, Denise and the Bulldogs were 40-11 and defeated Hardin-Simmons in the Bi-District playoff to qualify for their first trip to the NAIA National Tournament where they finished fourth.  The following year they made a return trip to National Tournament and placed ninth.  During her two seasons with the basketball team, she scored 732 points and averaged 14.5 points per game and pulled down an average of nine rebounds per game.  She ranks 13th on the all-time scoring list despite her short tenure with the squad.  At, one time she held the record for free throws made in a season with 105.
