Larry Lawrence began his time at Texas Lutheran in the fall of 1982 and played Baseball for four years under Coach Ray Katt. Lawrence was a four-year letterman and starting outfielder for three seasons. Lawrence was a 1986 All-American and a career .332 hitter. As an everyday starter, Lawrence hit .382 his senior season and hit .374 as a junior. Lawrence played on the Big State Conference Championship squads in 1984 and 1985. Lawrence played on the NAIA District IV Championship squad in 1986. The Bulldogs were a combined 95-45 (.679 winning percentage) with Lawrence as a major contributor from 1984-86. Upon the completion of his college career, Lawrence held four school records: Runs in a season (55), runs in a career (148), Career triples (7), and walks (122). Lawrence still ranks in the TLU top 10 for runs in a season, runs in a career, and career triples, and is second all-time in career walks. Lawrence scored the tying run in the 1983 win over the University of Texas - scoring via a two-run home run from David Dahse off future MLB pitcher Roger Clemens. Lawrence finished with a career on-base percentage of .489 - which ranks in the top 5 all-time.
