Bio

Bryce Hayes enters his fourth year overseeing the Texas Lutheran Sports Information and Sports Marketing Department. He serves as the primary contact for all 19 Texas Lutheran sports.

In December 2024, Hayes was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 30 Under 30 Class of 2024. In March 2024, Hayes was awarded the NCAA Inclusion College Sports Communicators UNITE Convention Grant. Hayes would also serve as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference SID Chair in 2023-24.

In his second year, Hayes spearheaded a TLU Sports Information department that was named the Sports Information Department of the Year by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for 2022-23, the first honor under Hayes's leadership. Hayes led the Office of Sports information and Sports Marketing as it handled game-day management, statistics, public address announcing, and social media content.

In his first year in the position, Hayes increased Texas Lutheran's social media engagement 80% across Instagram and Twitter and launched TLU's TikTok account.

Hayes has served as the lead communications contact in hosting the 2021 SCAC Men’s Soccer Tournament, 2022 NCAA Division-III Seguin, Texas Softball Regional and Super Regional, 2023 SCAC Cross Country Champions, and 2024 SCAC Softball Championship Tournament.

A graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., Hayes was heavily involved in the Office of Athletic Media Relations at Rhodes. He hosted a podcast, "Can't Knock the Hustle", and ran multiple social media accounts related to the college's athletics programs while serving as a student assistant coach for the Rhodes softball team under head coach Luke Wagner.

Hayes was responsible for creating social media graphics, posting on a variety of social media channels, producing highlights for social media, and interviewing student-athletes and coaches.

"(Former Rhodes Sports Information Director) James Hill, obviously, was the first SID I worked for, and he laid the blueprint for what is to come as far as me working in sports information. I want to thank all of Rhodes Athletics, the parents and the students for supporting me the last four years because without them this would not have happened. A role player in football became a fan favorite across every sport. How often does that happen?"

Prior to entering the athletics communications field, served as the classifieds coordinator at the Memphis Flyer newspaper and wrote for Grizzly Bear Blues on SB Nation. Grizzly Bear Blues offers online content dedicated to coverage of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies.

Hayes, a May 2020 graduate of Rhodes College, played football for the Lynx where he lettered four years as a middle linebacker.

Hayes is a member of College Sports Communicators (CSC); formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Hayes graduated from Rhodes as a History major. He minored in Africana Studies. Hayes was on the football team's Leadership Council for two years, and he was a member of the Rhodes Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), serving on the executive board. While a student at Rhodes College, Hayes had the privilege to work three Liberty Bowl games as a contract worker for the Georgia, Iowa State and Missouri football teams as well the 2017 NCAA Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight in Memphis as a photographer and content creator.

Hayes also was a member of the Rhodes Phi Alpha Theta history honor society and the Rhodes Black Student Association.

As a football student-athlete, Hayes was named to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame's 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society for maintaining at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout his college career.

A Memphis, Tenn., native, Hayes is the son of Becky and Perry Hayes. He has a younger sister, Alana.
