Caeli Taylor Named Women's SCAC Runner of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Caeli Taylor (Tilden/McMullen County) of the Texas Lutheran women's cross country program was named the second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Runner of the Week for the 2022 season after a sixth place finish at the Rice Invitational on Sept. 9, the league office announced Tuesday.

After a sophomore campaign in 2021 that saw Taylor qualify for the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Claremont Regional, Taylor has picked up right where she left off Taylor paving the way for a sixth place team finish (of 12 teams represented) at the Rice Invitational. Taylor was the first non-Division I runner in the field to break the tape in a time of 16:57 for the long 4K, scoring at 30th place.

Texas Lutheran men's and women's cross country will compete in the Southwestern University Showdown on Saturday, September 17, with the women's race starting at 8 AM and the men's meet starting at 8:45 AM.
