Bulldogs Fall to Colorado College in SCAC Semifinals

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran volleyball was swept by Colorado College, 25-21, 25-15, 27-25, Friday night at the Robertson Center on the campus of Southwestern University in the SCAC Tournament Semifinals.

Colorado College hit .266 in the match while the Bulldogs hit .156.

Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) led the Bulldogs with 10 kills, while Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) and Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear) both finished with seven kills.

Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) dished out 16 assists and tallied 12 digs for a double-double, while Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) had a team-high 18 digs.

Colorado College took the first set, 25-21, leading most of the way in a close set. The Tigers would win the second set 25-15 as they took a 2-0 lead on the No. 2 seed Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs showed some fight in the third set and looked as if they would avoid the sweep before the Tigers rallied to tie the set 25-all before finishing off the sweep with a 27-25 win to secure their spot in the SCAC Tournament Championship.

The Bulldogs finish the season with a 22-8 overall record. The 2023 season saw the Bulldogs build upon the foundation set in the 2022 season - reaching double digit SCAC wins for the second consecutive season with a program record 12 SCAC wins. The Bulldogs also eclipsed 20 wins for the second consecutive season. The Bulldogs  - a team picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll - conclude the 2022 season with a 22-8 record, going 12-4 in the SCAC to claim second place in the conference in the regular season, tying for third in the 2023 SCAC Tournament. For the second consecutive season, Texas Lutheran had five players earn All-SCAC honors with Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) and Tanyse Moehrig earning First Team honors and Faith ColdeweyKeriann Kallus, and Brylie Nedd earning Second Team honors. Texas Lutheran ends their season leading NCAA Division-III in digs per set (21.72), attacks per set (44.53), and total digs (2,368) while ranking fifth in total attacks (4,587).

The Bulldogs graduate three seniors - Keriann Kallus (New Braunfels/New Braunfels), Tanyse Moehrig, and Emily Mixon (Woodville/Woodville), all members of the 2022 SCAC Championship team. We thank them for all of their contributions to the Texas Lutheran volleyball program.
