#RV TLU Volleyball falls to Schreiner in Five Sets

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran Volleyball dropped a five set thriller to Schreiner, 25-18, 26-28, 17-25, 25-15, 12-15, Friday afternoon at Webster Gymnasium on the campus of Trinity University.

With the loss, the Bulldogs (16-5, 6-2 SCAC) dropped just their second match in SCAC play and brought their seven match win streak to an end.

Texas Lutheran had three attackers with double-digit kills, led by Keriann Kallus (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) with 13 kills and .286 hitting percentage. Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) had 12 kills as a part of her third triple-double of the season, also adding 29 assists and 25 digs, both team-highs.

Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) had 11 kills and 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear) had eight kills and four blocks.

Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) had 25 assists and four digs. Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) had 21 digs, four assists, and two service aces, while Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera Early College) had a career-high 20 digs and Ridley Kelly (Missouri City/Elkins) added 12 digs.

Texas Lutheran controlled the opening set from the outset, leading it wire-to-wire for a 25-18 win.

The second set was a nail biter, with Schreiner using a 4-1 run to rally and tie set 23-all before tying the match with a 28-26 set win.

Schreiner rolled in the third set and Texas Lutheran would respond with a dominant set of their own to force a fifth set. The Mountaineers closed out the win with a 15-12 win in the fifth.
