#RV TLU Volleyball Sweeps Dallas
SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran volleyball swept its fifth straight match, beating Dallas emphatically in straight sets Friday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (14-4, 5-1 SCAC) hit .272 in the match and recorded five total blocks, while holding the Crusaders to a .115 hitting percentage.
Emily Mixon (Woodville/Woodville) continued her great stretch of play, leading the Bulldogs with nine kills on 17 swings for a .471 hitting percentage while adding three digs and three blocks.
Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) added eight kills and five digs. Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear) matched Mixon with a team-high three blocks to go with three kills.
Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) had her 16th double-double of the season with 17 assists and 11 digs. Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) finished with a team-high 12 digs and three service aces. Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera Early College) finished with three aces and 11 digs.
Texas Lutheran dominated the first set, leading by as much as 20-8. Keriann Kallus (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) had three kills in the set - hitting .750 in the set.
TLU took a 2-0 lead with a 25-22 win in the second set behind four kills from Shavonne Respondek.
The third set was totally dominant from the Bulldogs, holding the Crusaders to a -.023 hitting percentage and cruising to a 25-11 win to complete the sweep.
Texas Lutheran continues their homestand and concludes their SCAC Divisional Weekend with a 12:15 PM match against Centenary on Saturday, Oct. 7. The match will be streamed on TLU's YouTube Channel, TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
