#RV Texas Lutheran Downs Austin College in Straight Sets

SEGUIN, Texas -- The #RV Texas Lutheran volleyball team opened their SCAC Divisional with yet another sweep, their fourth in a row, downing Austin College, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20, Friday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs improve to 13-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference play, while Austin College drops to 12-4 on the year and 3-3 in the SCAC.

Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) and Emily Mixon (Woodville/Woodville), led Texas Lutheran with 11 kills each. Moehrig would hit .303 with six digs and a block while Mixon would hit .320. Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear) hit. 462 - tallying seven kills on 13 swings.

Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) dished out 18 assists and added seven digs, two service aces, and a kill.

Keriann Kallus (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) had a team high two blocks and added four kills and five digs.

Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) led the Bulldogs with 22 digs and chipped in 17 assists, seven kills, and a block. Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) added 21 digs and Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera Early College) joined her in double-figures with 11 digs.

The Bulldogs battled for a 25-23 win in the first set - never losing the lead despite two ties. Tanyse Moehrig finished the set with five kills on eight swings.

The 'Roos continued to battle in the second set forcing three ties before the Bulldogs would pull away to win the set, 25-18.

The Bulldogs led the third and final set wire-to-wire, finishing the match with a 25-20 set win to finish off the match. Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) and Emily Mixon would combine for nine kills in the final set with Nedd leading all players with five kills in the final set.

The Bulldogs continue their SCAC Divisional weekend tonight in a 6 PM matchup with Dallas. The match as well as the entire Divisional will be streamed TLU's YouTube Channel, TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
