#RV TLU Volleyball Sweeps Hardin-Simmons

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The #RV Texas Lutheran Volleyball team, who once again is receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll, swept Hardin-Simmons, 25-19, 25-13, 32-30, in non-conference action on Wednesday at Calgaard Gymnasium on the campus of Trinity University. The sweep is the third consecutive for TLU and eighth of the season.

The Bulldogs (12-4, 3-1 SCAC) will return to conference play on Friday, hosting their SCAC Divisional at Memorial Gymnasium starting with a match against Austin College at 11 AM. The match as well as the entire Divisional will be streamed TLU's YouTube Channel, TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.

Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) led the Bulldogs with nine kills, while hitting .474 in the match. Emily Mixon (Woodville/Woodville) added eight kills and three blocks and hit .300. As a team, Texas Lutheran hit a season-high .276 in the match.

Keriann Kallus (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) had three kills, two service aces, and led the team with five total blocks. Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) added seven kills, while Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) finished with seven kills in addition to yet another double-double - finishing with 11 digs and a team-high 17 assists.

Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera Early College) finished with a team-high three service aces while Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) added 13 assists and four digs.

Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) led the team with 14 digs and added five assists and an ace while Ridley Kelly (Missouri City/Elkins) had eight digs.

The Bulldogs battled for a 25-19 win in the first set - overcoming five ties and three lead changes. Brylie Nedd finished the set with four kills on nine swings.

The second set was not eventful with Texas Lutheran leading nearly the entire way after the Cowgirls took the opening point. The Bulldogs hit .310 in the set and held the Cowgirls to a .026 hitting percentage.

The third and final set was a marathon, as Texas Lutheran fought off set point twice to grind out the 32-30 win to complete the sweep. The set saw 18 ties and eight lead changes.
