Volleyball Falls to #15 Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 3-1

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas Lutheran volleyball dropped their second of two matches on opening day of the 2023 season to 15th-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 3-1, on Friday at the Trinity National Invitational held in Trinity's Calgaard Gymnasium in San Antonio.

The Bulldogs (1-1) will have a quick turnaround as they face Whitworth (1-1) on Saturday at 10 AM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.

Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) led the Bulldogs with eight kills while Keriann Kallus (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) and Emily Mixon (Woodville/Woodville) had six kills each. Mixon would add two blocks (one solo).

Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) had a team-high 22 digs and Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) finished with her first double-double of the 2023 season with 21 digs and 11 assists.

The Bulldogs rode their momentum from their first match into the first set against Oshkosh - taking the first set 25-22. Kallus and Mixon led the Bulldogs in the opening set with three kills and a block each.

The two teams went back-and-forth early in the second set before the Titans would close the set on a 13-6 run to tie the match 1-1.

Texas Lutheran battled throughout the third set but could never quite overcome the Titans before falling 25-17.

The fourth and final set was close throughout with the Bulldogs coming as close as 21-20 before the Titans put it away.
