Bulldogs Fall to Colorado College, 3-1, on Senior Night

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran volleyball team dropped its match against Colorado College Saturday night, 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 18-25, 26-28) at Memorial Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs fell to 24-8 (11-4 SCAC), while Colorado College improved to 17-8 (9-5 SCAC) on the season.

Maddy Schultz (Richmond/Needville) headlined Texas Lutheran's efforts with a team-high 12 kills and two blocks. Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) added 11 kills of her own with six digs and a block and Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) chipped in 10 kills with 13 digs, an ace, and a block.

Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) had a team-high 16 assists, while Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) put up 12. Defensively, Lexi Morris, the newly-minted TLU all-time digs leader, joined Weisinger in double figures for digs - matching her season-high with 32 digs.

The Bulldogs hit .153 as a team while the Tigers hit .167.

Texas Lutheran jumped out to a 1-0 lead, defeating the Tigers 25-15 in the opening set behind three kills each from Maddy Schultz and Madison Weisinger.

Colorado College would respond by winning three tightly contested sets to overtake the Bulldogs Saturday night.

Following the match, Texas Lutheran recognized its seven seniors: Maddy Schultz, Paige Day (San Antonio/Reagan), Celie Contreras (San Marcos/San Marcos), Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville), Baylie Baccinelli (Santa Fe/Santa Fe), Madison Weisinger, and Lexi Morris, in senior day festivities celebrating their contributions to the TLU Volleyball program.

Texas Lutheran concludes the regular season with a home match against rival Trinity on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 12:15 PM as a final tuneup before the SCAC Conference Tournament next week in Colorado Springs. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
