Volleyball Takes Down Schreiner, 3-1, for Eighth Win in a Row

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Texas Lutheran volleyball took down Schreiner University, 3-1, 25-19, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20, Friday afternoon at Reid Arena on the campus of Colorado College.

The Bulldogs extended their win streak to eight games and improved to 18-4 (6-1 SCAC) on the season.

Texas Lutheran was led by 15 kills from Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy). Nedd would add 10 digs and a block for her third double-double of the season Maddy Schultz (Richmond/Needville) finished with 14 kills, six digs, three assists, and a block. Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) with nine kills and three blocks. Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) and Emily Mixon (Woodville/Woodville) finished with seven kills each. Mixon would add a season-high four blocks.

Respondek dished out 24 assists and added 17 digs for her eleventh double-double of the season. Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) matched her season-high of five blocks in addition to four kills, six digs, and team-high four service aces. Sulak now jumps teammates Shavonne Respondek and Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) for the conference lead with 34 service aces on the season.

Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) led the Bulldogs with 32 digs and added nine assists.

Four kills and a block from Brylie Nedd led the way as she helped lead the Bulldogs to a 25-19 first set victory.

The duo of Nedd and Maddy Schultz dominated in the second set with 11 kills between the two as Texas Lutheran held off the Mountaineers, 26-24, in a second set that hosted 13 ties and nine lead changes.

The Mountaineers were able to avoid the sweep in the third set - taking a 25-21 third set win.

Texas Lutheran started the fourth set with a 15-9 run and would put the match away, 25-20, in a set that saw Schultz lead the Bulldogs down the stretch - finishing with five kills in the match clinching set.

Texas Lutheran returns to the floor at 3:30 PM MDT/4:30 PM CST to face host Colorado College in their second match of Friday's SCAC Divisional matches. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
