TLU Volleyball Sweeps Austin College

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran volleyball swept Austin College 25-15, 25-16, 25-20, Saturday night at the Robertson Center on the campus of Southwestern University.

Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) had an outstanding match offensively, leading Texas Lutheran with a match-high 14 kills on 21 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. She also added a dig and a block.

The Bulldogs (14-4, 4-1 SCAC) hit .301 in the match and finished with eight service aces while only allowing for the 'Roos.

Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) finished with eight kills, six digs, and a block, while Maddy Schultz (Richmond/Needville) had seven kills, four digs, and two blocks. Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) had six kills and a .600 hitting percentage in addition to three blocks. Weisinger currently ranks second in the SCAC in hitting percentage (.362) and third in the SCAC in blocks (52). Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) added four kills, four digs, an assist, a service ace, and a block.

Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) dished out 18 assists and added four digs and three service aces. Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) finished with 24 digs, for her third consecutive 20+ dig match, and added six assists and three service aces.

The opening set was the Tanyse Moehrig show as she was a key factor in the Bulldogs leading for the duration of the set - finishing the opening set with an impressive seven kills to lead Texas Lutheran.

The second set was tied up 15-15 before the Bulldogs regained the lead and never looked back. Brylie Nedd had four kills in the set to lead the Bulldogs while Maddy Schultz and Madison Weisinger had two blocks each.

The third set saw the Bulldogs trail for the first time all match as Austin College took the opening point, before Texas Lutheran continued their Saturday night offensive onslaught. Moehrig closed out the match emphatically, with six kills on eight swings in the final set.

Texas Lutheran will play their final match in this weekend's SCAC Divisional at Southwestern University on Sunday morning as they face the Ladies of Centenary College at 10 AM at the Robertson Center. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
