Volleyball's Morris Named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball's Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Morris helped the Bulldogs get off to a 5-0 start to the season last week, including three sweeps. The 5-0 start makes for the best start for TLU volleyball since 2015's 7-0 start to the season. The TLU senior, who was the SCAC Backrow Player of the Year and led the NCAA in digs in 2021, had 91 digs to lead the SCAC to earn her first SCAC weekly accolade of the season. Morris's 91 digs makes for third in NCAA Division-III.

In her first match of the season, Morris led the team with 28 digs and added an assist. Morris would average 5.35 digs per set over the Bulldogs first five matches of the season.

Texas Lutheran is set to travel to Lexington, Kentucky, this weekend to participate in the Transy Invite hosted by Transylvania University. The Bulldogs will compete in four matches in Lexington starting with host No. 24 Transylvania University at Clive M. Beck Center on Friday at 3 PM.
