Texas Lutheran Competes in Tom Tellez Invitational
HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's track and field team wrapped up the Tom Tellez Invitational at the Carl Lewis International Complex on the campus of University of Houston on Friday in a Division-I laden field.
Ashlynn Recknagel (La Vernia/La Vernia) finished fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35m (10' 11.75").
Two weeks after winning the 4x100m championship the Texas Lutheran relay team comprised of Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport), Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen), Leilani Lopez (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic), and Lily Dawson (Lott/Rosebud-Lott) finished third behind Lamar and Rice with a time of 49.67 seconds.
In throws, Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park), the 2024 SCAC Champion in the hammer, finished third in the hammer on Friday with a 46.73m (153' 4") mark. Freshman Deserae Charles (Natchitoches, LA/Forney) finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 11.99m (39'4") while fellow freshman Madison Wright (San Antonio/Lee) finished seventh in the discus with a 37.14m (121' 10") mark.
