Texas Lutheran's Deserae Charles Named SCAC Field Athlete of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Texas Lutheran freshman Deserae Charles (Natchitoches, LA/Forney) has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning following her performance in the War Hawk Classic in Abilene.

Charles would win the shot put with a mark of 12.31m (40' 04.75"), which leads all SCAC competitors in the 2024 outdoor season. This is the first weekly honor of the freshman's career. Texas Lutheran has won SCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week three out of seven weeks so far this season.

Charles and Texas Lutheran shift their attention to the 2024 SCAC Championships which will take place at Trinity University starting on Saturday, April 27.
