Feature: Trinity Murdock Named SCAC Character & Community Female Student Athlete of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Trinity Murdock, a senior sprinter on the Texas Lutheran women's track and field team, has been selected as the SCAC Character and Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning with Feb. 5.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

By day, you can find the Katy, Texas, native striving on the track - winning the 100m dash at the 2023 SCAC Championships and earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors following her season-best performance in the 100m dash at the 2023 Tom Tellez Invitational - running the 100m in 12.24 seconds. Murdock picked up a top five finish in her first race of the 2024 indoor season.

Off the track, Murdock has been active in her hometown as well as on the Texas Lutheran campus. Murdock splits her time between being President of the Black Student Union, Vice President of the TLU Student Government while also serving as a representative on the Texas Lutheran Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and Curriculum Committees while also being a member of the TLU Theatre department.

Closer to home, she's helped with the Houston Food Bank and recently held a Sodexo Appreciation Lunch at TLU on January 22nd to honor our Sodexo Staff who are here every day on the student's behalf.

When asked about her community service work and her various roles on campus Murdock stated, "Being a leader on this campus is extremely rewarding. I feel like I get to have an opportunity to change the individual's experience in the space around them . Being authentic with the moves that you make helps to create real moments and experiences. Knowing that I can make someone's experience better and be a servant to them it's something that I naturally want to do."

Murdock may be thriving on the track, but she has more than left a legacy in Seguin as a staple on the campus of Texas Lutheran University, as an outspoken leader and public servant.
