Texas Lutheran Competes in Bobcat Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's track and field team wrapped up the Bobcat Invitational on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos on Saturday after three days of competition in a Division-I laden field.

A week after winning the 4x100 relay at the 2023 D3 Challenge, the Texas Lutheran 4x100 team comprised of Ja'Keia Williams (La Grange/La Grange), Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport), Trinity Murdock (Katy/Paetow) and Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen) finished 10th at the Bobcat Invitational, only trailing MIT amongst Division-III competitors with a time of 48.42 seconds. The Bobcat Invitational time moves the Bulldogs into 13th in Division-III in the event.

Aaliyah Leal (Ingleside/Aransas Pass) collected a top 20 finish with a time of 2:25.46 in the 800m run.

In throws, Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park) finished 18th, first amongst Division-III competitors, in the shot put with a mark of 12.07m.

Coach Holland's Comments: "For the women, Friday morning was good for Julie in the shot put with a season best performance while Friday night we turned in some good times in the 5K. Gianna ran a PR in the event to lead the trio from TLU.

The women showed out in the 4x100 relay only to be nipped at the line by fellow D3 challenger MIT. The ladies ran a season best to shoot us up into the top 15 in the event.
