Norrell, Williams Highlight Women's Track and Field at McNeese Invite

LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA -- Freshman Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport Christian School) earned a second place finish in the 55-meter hurdles and set a school record in the process at the McNeese Indoor Invite in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Norrell, a Lake Jackson, Texas, native clocked a time of 9.34 in the prelims - breaking a record of 9.37 previously held by Sarah Usry set in 2012. Norrell would run a 9.44 in the Finals for a second place finish by McNeese State's own Reagan West on her home track.

Ja'Keia Williams (La Grange/La Grange) would make the finals in the 55-meters clocking in with a time of 7.77. Dejah Carr (Houston/Channelview) would finish in the top five for the Bulldogs in the weight throw with a mark of 14.95m (49 feet, .75 inches).

Coach Holland's Comments: "As with the men, the women had some great, competitive races. They are continuing to improve and run faster and smarter. Same for the women throwers. They continue to get better, throw PRs and make Finals."
