SEGUIN, Texas -- Kaitlyn Enloe, a fifth-year senior member of the Texas Lutheran women's tennis team, has been selected as the SCAC Character and Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning with February 20.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

With her mother as a TLU staff member and her sister as a TLU alumnus, Enloe, a Seguin, Texas, native, has TLU and Seguin coursing through her blood and has been active member of the community for as long as she can remember and continues to do so through student teaching and her community service work off of the tennis court.

Enloe has been a member of TLU's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for four years and has been a TLU SCAC SAAC rep for three three of those years - playing an instrumental role in TLU's "Change for the Better" campaign the last four years. She has been a lifeguard at TLU and within the Seguin community. Enloe has volunteered at the Christian Cupboard and Seguin Animal Shelter while also tutoring at both Comal and Seguin ISD.

When asked about her community service Enloe stated:

"Change for the better is something I have really tried to put my best effort forward with when helping these recipients that we pick each year to the best of our ability. Volunteering my time and effort into tutoring in Seguin ISD and Comal ISD is something that not only aligns with my career choice, but also is something I love to do because it is an amazing thing to see the light bulb go off in the kid's eyes when the information clicks. Connecting with the students individually was a great opportunity for not only them and their education, but also me in getting a glimpse of their young minds and learning from them as well. Finally, serving on SAAC for 4 years and being a rep for the conference for 3 of those 4 years meant so much to be able to represent women's tennis at TLU and in our conference, the things we were able to accomplish while I was on SAAC were amazing experiences to be a part of. Throughout my volunteer work and experiences, it has taught me lessons in life that I hope to carry into being a teacher and someday a great mentor because of these opportunities."

Over the course of five years at Texas Lutheran, Enloe has been a leader off the court within both the Texas Lutheran and Seguin communities in an attempt to mold others and give back to a community she has called home as she pursues a career as a teacher upon graduation this spring.
