Bulldogs Fall to Trinity, 4-0, in Non-Conference Action

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup to the defending SCAC Champions and NCAA Tournament qualifiers, Trinity University, on Sunday afternoon, 4-0, at Paul McGinlay Field in San Antonio.

The Tigers (3-4-2) attacked early and often with 15 shots in the first half. The Tigers scored in the sixth minute and never looked back, scoring three times in the first half. The Tigers would add an additional goal in the second half to bring the game to its final score of 4-0.

The Bulldogs fought to the very end, but the Bulldogs couldn't find the back of the net on their three shot attempts as they were unable to avoid their third shutout in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs (4-3-2) were outshot 34-3 in the contest.

Freshman goalkeeper Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) was active in goal - making a team-high five saves on Sunday - but would take the losing decision. Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) would relieve Marquez in the second half and make four saves.

Texas Lutheran turns their attention to conference play as they travel to Shreveport, Louisiana to face the Ladies of Centenary College (1-6-2) in the 2023 SCAC opener on Friday, Oct. 6. The match is set to kick off at 5 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
