TLU, Concordia (TX) Tie 1-1

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran and Concordia (TX) played to a 1-1 tie Monday night at Gustafson Field. The Tornados scored the first goal in the 36th minute before the Bulldogs would respond in the 53rd minute.

The Tornados (0-4-4) got on the board first with a 36th minute goal to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Despite being held scoreless in the opening half, the Bulldogs (3-2-3) out shot the Tornados 10-3 in the half.

The Bulldogs would tie the match one-all as Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren), who had six shots and three on-goal, broke through for the game-tying header via an assist from Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill).

TLU attempted to pull out the win with a few opportunities late but were unable to score before time expired.

The Bulldogs totaled 20 shots in the game while Concordia tallied 11 shots, with six on-goal. Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) made five saves on the night for TLU in the second half - including two clutch saves in the final minute. TLU also held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Texas Lutheran now begins a four-game road trip - starting with travel to Southwestern and Trinity this weekend for non-conference matches for their final non-conference matches ahead of SCAC play. The Bulldogs will open on Friday with a 5 PM match against the Pirates in Georgetown. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
