Bulldogs Drop Match to Southwestern, 2-1

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team fell to the Southwestern Pirates, 2-1, in non-conference action Friday night in Georgetown, Texas.

Senior Samantha Martinez (Schertz/Clemens) scored the Bulldogs lone goal in the 53rd minute. Madison Johnson (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) picked up the losing decision allowing two second half goals.

The Yellow Jackets controlled play in the first half, leading the Bulldogs 7-2 in shots through 45 minutes but the two teams entered halftime in a scoreless draw.

Martinez got the Bulldogs on the board first in the second half, but the Pirates continued to keep the pressure on finishing with a 21-5 shot advantage - including a 14-3 advantage in the second half that saw the Pirates net two goals.

The Bulldogs return home on Friday for the first of two home matches over the course of homecoming weekend. The Bulldogs will face off against the University of Dallas at 5 PM. All streaming and live stream links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
