Women's Soccer Takes 2-0 Victory at Schreiner

KERRVILLE, TX -- Goals from Kelly Wolfe and Brittany Casarez pushed Texas Lutheran Women's Soccer (3-5) over Schreiner (0-8) Wednesday afternoon at Mountaineer Field in Kerrville, Texas. It was the second shutout of the season for the Bulldogs - winning two of their last three matches via shutout, defeating Centenary 1-0 Friday (Sept. 24).

Wednesday's first half made for one of the most aggressive offensive attacks of the season thus far for the Bulldogs as they managed a 12-4 lead in shots with seven on-goal.

The scoring finally opened up with a goal in the 28th minute from sophomore Kelly Wolfe (San Antonio/Churchill) - her first of the season. Senior Brittany Casarez (McKinney/McKinney North) added a late goal in the 89th minute - her first goal of the season - putting the game out of reach for the Schreiner Mountaineers.

The Bulldogs stepped up defensively once again anchored by freshmen goalkeepers Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) & Madison Johnson (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) who both maintained clean sheets. Madison Johnson had 4 saves in the second half to stifle the Mountaineers attempts at a comeback and Phipps picked up the win - her second of the season.

For the match, Texas Lutheran outshot Centenary 18-14 and held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Women's Soccer's road trip continues this weekend as they head to Conway, AR to face the Warriors of Hendrix College Sunday at noon. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
