Audre Garza named SCAC Character & Community Female Student Athlete of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Audre Garza, a senior golfer on the Texas Lutheran women's golf team, has been selected as the SCAC Character and Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning with Nov. 6.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

When Garza isn't on the golf course leading the TLU women's golf team as its senior captain, the New Braunfels native and Elementary Education major can be found in the classroom - not only as a student but as an elementary school teacher.

Garza has thrived in the classroom as a two-time WGCA All-American Scholar and three-time SCAC Spring Honor Roll honoree and has been a positive influence on the golf course as a repeat honoree on the SCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship team.

Garza has translated her everyday actions in her personal life as a student into her roles in the community, serving as an RA on campus for the second year, observing elementary school classrooms on Fridays over the last few years while also serving as a Camp Counselor over the summers at Camp Ministries in New Braunfels.

"To me, being a leader is to have a positive impact for the community and to have the community grow successfully and that's what I aspire to do both on and off the course," said Garza

Over the course of her career at Texas Lutheran, Garza has been the definition of a model student-athlete on and off the course, being a positive influence within her team and sport at-large while also serving her community she calls home mere minutes from the Texas Lutheran campus.
