Bulldogs Down Austin College, 69-46

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's basketball team continued Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play defeating Austin College, 69-46, Friday night inside Memorial Gymnasium as the Bulldogs improved to 10-3 and 3-1 in SCAC play on the season.

Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) had 13 points, seven rebounds, and three steals - all game-highs - in addition to two assists. Davi'Yanna Jones (San Antonio/Stevens) scored nine points off the bench for the Bulldogs. Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) continued to stuff the stat sheet in limited minutes Friday, tallying six points, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals in 19 minutes of action.

After the first quarter, the Bulldogs held a narrow 17-15 lead with six different Bulldogs recording a point in the period.

The Bulldogs began to pull away in the second quarter, outscoring the Kangaroos (3-10, 2-3 SCAC) 19-10 in the period. The Bulldogs would lead by as many as 12 points in the period and carry a 36-25 lead into halftime.

The Bulldogs ran away with it in the second half going on a 21-4 run over the course of the third quarter while shooting 46.2% from the field. TLU would lead by as many as 33 points in the fourth quarter, solidifying the win.

TLU led for the entirety of the second half and would not trail after the early moments of the first quarter. Senior Juliett Martinez (San Antonio/Reagan) made her mark defensively with a career-high three steals. Every available player recorded minutes for the third straight game and for the sixth time this season.

Texas Lutheran concludes its home weekend on Saturday, December 30, continuing SCAC play with a matchup with the University of Dallas Crusaders. Tip-off is set for 6 PM at Memorial Gymnasium and will be streamed on TLU+ as well as KWED 1580 AM Radio with Chris Austin on the call for fans in the Guadalupe County area.
