Texas Lutheran Falls at Concordia (TX), 84-63

AUSTIN, Texas -- Sophomore guard Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs but Texas Lutheran women's basketball fell to Concordia (TX) 84-63 in non-conference play on Friday at the Concordia Fieldhouse in Austin, Texas.

Senior Kailey Lacy (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) joined Mulkey in double figures with 10 points off the bench for the Bulldogs. Sydney Shaw (Lockhart/Lockhart) grabbed a team and season-high eight rebounds.

Texas Lutheran (7-5, 3-1 SCAC) shot 17-of-67 (25.4 percent) from the floor, including eight of 30 (26.7 percent) from behind the arc. Concordia shot 27-of-60 (43.9 percent), including eight of 25 (32 percent) from three-point range.

The Tornados would get on the board first taking an early 5-0 lead but would trail 11-10 after one quarter as Texas Lutheran would close the opening period on an 11-5 run. Both teams struggled with neither shooting above 30 percent in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Tornados would begin to find their groove - leading by as many as nine points in the quarter - as they would take a seven point lead into halftime.

The Tornados pulled away from Texas Lutheran in the third quarter - holding the Bulldogs to nine points in the quarter - and stretching out to as much as a 27 point lead in the third quarter. The Tornados would cruise through the fourth quarter with the Bulldogs never coming closer than 16 points in the final period. 

Up next, Texas Lutheran will return to conference play as they travel to take on the Pirates of Southwestern University for their first game of the 2023 calendar year on Tuesday, January 3. Tip-off is currently set for 5:30 PM. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
