Softball Reveals 2023 Schedule

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran softball team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season on Wednesday. There are currently 40 games listed on the schedule, including 25 home contests at Ed Kruse Stadium.

The Bulldogs, the 2019 Division-III national champions and eight-time defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) champs, will matchup against four schools that reached the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

The 2023 campaign marks the 12th for head coach Wade Wilson at Texas Lutheran. During his tenure, the Bulldogs have made the postseason in all but his first season, eight consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, made two appearances to Super Regionals, and three consecutive Division-III Women's College World Series appearances.

The Bulldogs will open the season on Wednesday, Feb. 15 versus Division-II St. Mary's, who made their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance last season, at St. Mary's Softball Stadium at 5 & 7 PM.

The Bulldogs home schedule is headlined by home series against NCAA Tournament qualifiers Babson (Feb. 25), Piedmont (Mar. 8), and DePauw (Mar. 29) as well as a ranked match-up with Mary Hardin-Baylor (Mar. 22).

SCAC play begins March 10-11 at Ed Kruse Stadium as the Bulldogs take on Schreiner. The Bulldogs home conference schedule also features Southwestern (Apr. 6-7), St. Thomas (Apr. 21-22), and Dallas (Apr. 28-29). TLU will be on the road to face rival Trinity in a rematch of the 2022 SCAC Championship at Trinity Softball Field in San Antonio (Apr. 10-11).

Other SCAC road series include Centenary (Mar. 24-25) and Austin College (Mar. 31-Apr. 1).

TLU will go for its ninth consecutive tournament title at the 2023 SCAC Tournament Championship in San Antonio, May 5-7. NCAA Regionals will be played at host institutions May 19-21 prior to Super Regionals May 25-27.

The 2023 Division-III Women's College World Series will take place in Marshall, Texas, June 1-7 as the Bulldogs seek their fourth consecutive Women's College World Series appearance and second national title.

The 2022-23 team returns All-American pitcher Ashlyn Strother (Seabrook/Clear Falls) and All-Region pitcher Sydney Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland). The Bulldogs are coming off a dominant 2022 campaign that saw the team set program records for wins (45), finishing 45-6, and walks (162), extended their SCAC conference consecutive regular season win streak to 62 dating back to 2019, and set an NCAA team record for stolen bases with 231 stolen bases - concluding their season with a Division-III Women's College World Series appearance for the third consecutive season.
