12 Bulldogs Earn Academic Honors from NFCA

SEGUIN, Texas -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2021-22 All-Academic teams and Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete award winners on Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs had 12 athletes earn individual scholar-athlete recognition for having a 3.5 grade-point average or better.

Individual All-America Scholar-Athlete Award winners:

Riley Futrell (Florence/Florence), Bailey Hudgeons (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs), Kylee Jack (Richwood/Brazoswood), Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham), Linzee Leal (Corpus Christi/Mary Carroll), Casey Martin (Pearland/Pearland), Sydney Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland), Olivia Prinz (Georgetown/Georgetown), Chassety Raines (Spring/Klein Collins), Isabella Rodriguez (Pearland/Pearland), Brooklyn Stone (Alta Loma, CA/Alta Loma), Ashlyn Strother (Seabrook/Clear Falls)

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. NCAA Division III led the way with 2,227 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2021-22. NCAA Division I followed with 2,155 and NCAA Division II with 1,646. Junior Colleges and NAIA came in with 756 and 736 student-athletes respectively, with USCAA member Penn State Brandywine earning seven scholar-athlete nods.
