Six Bulldogs Earn All-Region Honors

SEGUIN, Texas -- The No. 2 Texas Lutheran softball team placed six nominees on the 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division-III All-West Region Team, the NFCA announced Monday.

Senior Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham), senior Sarah Metzer (Sugar Land/Dulles), and sophomore Ashlyn Strother (Seabrook/Clear Falls) were all selected for the All-Region First Team. Senior Casey Martin (Pearland/Pearland) and sophomore Sydney Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) received All-Region Second Team honors while freshman Faith Hernandez (Dinuba, Calif./Dinuba) earned Third Team All-Region honors.

Six All-Region selections tied for second most in the country with East Texas Baptist (Region X), Endicott (II), Johnson & Wales (I), and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (II).

All All-Region teams can be viewed here.

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second, or third teams selected for each region. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2022 NFCA Division-III All-American teams.

The 2022 NFCA Division-III All-America teams will be announced on Tuesday, May 24.

The Bulldogs return to action this weekend as they host No. 5 Belhaven in the NCAA Division-III Seguin Super Regional at Ed Kruse Stadium.
