SEGUIN, Texas -- Gabriel Ceballos, a freshman runner on the Texas Lutheran Cross Country team, has been selected as the SCAC Character and Community Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning with December 12th.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

This fall, you could find Ceballos amidst a young Texas Lutheran pack that improved by the race and would place fifth in the SCAC Championships this fall.

Off the course, Ceballos has quickly ingratiated himself and become a leader in his first semester at Texas Lutheran, volunteering in numerous different capacities. In his first semester, Ceballos participated in Bike MS: Valero Ride, the USATF – Southcentral Junior Olympics XC Meet, Blue Santa Christmas Toy Wrapping, and working the concessions stand at his alma mater, Smithson Valley High School while competing this fall.

When asked about all the different ways he's been involved in the community at such a young age Ceballos stated, "Nothing beats the feeling of being appreciated when you put your time and effort into serving others."

Gabriel Ceballos is constantly working on improving himself as a runner and competitor but as he continues to elevate he has constantly had a passion to elevate, highlight, and serve those in need.
