Cura Named SCAC Runner of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's cross country runner Carlos Cura (Midkiff/Rankin) has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Cura received the conference honor after finishing sixth overall, and first amongst Division-III runners, in the 8K at the OLLU Invite in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, Oct. 7. Cura finished with a  time of 23:49 along the 4.5 mile course - only 27 seconds out of first place. The top five finishers were mainly Division II athletes and one NAIA athlete.

Cura's individual performance guided Texas Lutheran to a third place finish with a score of 66 points. This mark's Cura's first SCAC weekly honor in his career.

Cura and Texas Lutheran travel to Riverside, California, to compete in the Highlander Invitational on Oct. 15th for one final tuneup ahead of the 2022 SCAC Championships later this month that will be held in Georgetown, Texas.
