Acero Earns Second Conference Weekly Honor

SEGUIN, Texas -- After posting a record setting pole vault mark at the 2023 D3 Challenge last weekend, Texas Lutheran track and field sophomore Ezra Acero (San Antonio/Harlan) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Field Co-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Acero shares the honors with Adrian Washington, a junior high jumper from Southwestern.

Acero leaped 4.80m (15-9) at the D3 Challenge hosted by Texas Lutheran to beat out 14 other competitors in the men's pole vault and set a new program record in the process. He currently ranks second in all of NCAA Division-III in the event.

This is Acero's second weekly honor of this season and of his career. This is Texas Lutheran's fourth of the season with Acero, Elijah Jefferson, and Julissa Rodriguez all drawing honors so far this season.

Acero and the Bulldogs will compete this weekend at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State in San Marcos March 30-April 1.
