Texas Lutheran's Elijah Jefferson Named SCAC Track Co-Athlete of the Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Texas Lutheran's Elijah Jefferson (San Antonio/Construction Careers Academy) was named the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Year, sharing the honors with Trinity University's Sean Majors, the league office announced Tuesday.

The freshman earns the honor after winning both the 100m and 200m dash at the 2022 SCAC Championships. His 10.72 second 100m time is the fifth fastest in conference meet history and his 200m time of 21.61 seconds is the fourth fastest in conference meet history. Jefferson also ran the second leg on the 4x100 relay team that took second place at that meet. His top time in the 100 ranked 12th in the West Region while his 200 meters time was 10th in the West Region and 44th in all of Division-III.

Jefferson's selection represents the sixth time a TLU student-athlete has earned SCAC Track Athlete-of-the-Year honors as Marquis Brown won the award four straight years from 2015 to 2018 and Darren Jones received the honor following the 2019 season.
