Track and Field's Scottie Reyes Named SCAC Field Athlete of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Texas Lutheran thrower Scottie Reyes (Dilley/Dilley) has been tabbed the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Carl Kight Invitational, according to a league announcement Tuesday.

This marks the fourth honor for the TLU throws team this season and the first this season for Reyes, a native of Dilley, Texas. The USTFCCCA All-Region performer joins Weston Geiger (Shiner/St. Paul), Zachary Herman (Austin/Lake Travis), Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park), Ezrael Powell (San Antonio/Marshall), and Leilani Lopez (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic) as SCAC weekly award winners so far this season. This marks Reyes's fourth career SCAC weekly honor - winning the award three times last season leading to him being named SCAC Newcomer of the Year.

Reyes continued to improve on his national standings in his throwing events this weekend finishing second in the shot put, an event he currently sits fifth in Division-III (first in the SCAC). Reyes finished third in the discus with a season-best mark of 48.83m. With that mark, Reyes moves into first place in the SCAC and tenth in all of Division-III as of this writing. He also threw a new season-best in the hammer with a toss of 47.52m (155-11), which was good for fifth at the meet and second in the SCAC - behind teammate Zachary Herman.

The Bulldogs will travel to Texas State this weekend to participate in the Charles Austin Classic on April 15-16. For all updates on Texas Lutheran Track and Field, follow @tluthrows and @tluxctf on Instagram as well as as all official TLU Athletics accounts.
