Texas Lutheran's Weston Geiger Named SCAC Field Athlete of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Texas Lutheran sophomore Weston Geiger (Shiner/St. Paul) opened the 2022 outdoor season with a record setting performance in the javelin throw to earn Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday evening.

Geiger set a new school record in the javelin with a toss of 57.04m (187-2) on his final effort - good for a third place finish and first amongst Division-III throwers by over 25 feet at the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. He also posted personal bests in the discus (39.14m - 12th place) and hammer throw (40.62m - 13th place).

Geiger's mark of 57.04m currently ranks him second in Division-III in the javelin throw as team's begin the outdoor track and field season.

Geiger and Texas Lutheran turn their attention to the D3 Challenge, their lone home meet of the year, on Saturday, March 26 at Bulldog Stadium.
