Prior to TLU
Cura was a four-time state qualifier in cross country at Rankin High School under head coach Colton Martin. Cura also graduated with his associate's degree in basic studies from Odessa College.

Son of Dollye and Carlos Cura...has one sister, Bianca Cura...also a member of the Texas Lutheran Cross Country team.
