Men's Soccer Improves to 6-0 with 3-0 Victory

RICHARDSON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (6-0) continued their season opening seven-match road trip with its fourth shutout in six matches with a 3-0 victory over future SCAC foe, University of the Ozarks (2-4), on Sunday at the UTD Soccer Complex on the campus of UT-Dallas in a neutral site match. Goalkeeper Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) recorded his seventh career shutout and fourth of the 2023 season.

Pena made saves on all four shots on-goal from the Eagles on Sunday.

Sophomore DJ Sassenhagen IV (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) scored his first career goal in the 19th minute via an assist from Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point). Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) would extend the Bulldogs first half lead to 2-0 on a 31st-minute penalty kick. Manke, who entered the season with two career goals, netted his third of the season with the goal and is currently tied for third in the SCAC in goals (3) and fourth in points (7).

Evan Bremauntz (Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage), who went to high school just 11 minute from UT-Dallas at Colleyville Heritage High School, scored his first career goal in the 70th-minute via an assist from Jorge Ugaz (Cibolo/Clemens) to bring the game to its final score of 3-0.

The Bulldogs dominated possession throughout and would out shoot the Eagles, 20-9, on the evening.

Texas Lutheran concludes its seven-match road trip on Tuesday as the Bulldogs travel to Brownwood to face the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets. The match is scheduled for 4 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
